Proofing
This photo was a little hard to work with. I used three scans, a neutral scan, a dark scan, and a light scan to try to correct it. Here is the neutral scan:

Morgan Clark Scanned Negative
The original scanned image did not have enough contrast or variations in tone. I applied a layer of levels and masked the tree line so it wouldn't completely block out.

Elise Derstine Scan
The original photo seemed a little washed out and all a similar color gray, so I added levels layers to darken most of the photo, then erased a little in the inside of the kiln to keep detail in the brick.

Moly's Scan
I picked a super bad negative so I have more room to improve. I was amazed for what PS can do.
This is the original photo which the hand is is why to light, the film is basically over developed. I applied 3 layers of levels and changed it to the photo below.

The lens appears to have been fogged when I made this image. The top of the photo was much more exposed than the rest, I used a masked levels layer to try to correct it.

Welcome to the class blog. We will be posting images of scans and edits as we go so you can avoid printing costs while we learn the skill sets.
Your first assignment will be :
-Scan one of your images
-Invert values
-Make sure your image is oriented correctly
-Convert to Black and White (as we went over in class)
-Do ALL SPOTTING with clone stamp tool on original file
-Save your image as a TIFF
-Pull off a JPEG at 72dpi with the size being 10" on long side
-Post image on blog
-Make image more like you had in mind or more dramatic using layers- please use a soft hand so we do not see your photoshop work
-Post second on blog as well
